Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson’s disease is a degenerative disease of the nervous system that comes about because of the lack of Dopamine in the brain. It can be characterized by slowness of movement, rigidity and tremor, but there are many more aspects to it and this is a simplification of it.

There is no cure for Parkinson’s disease. Until the introduction of Levadopa, in 1965, there was no effective treatment for it. Treatment from drugs and surgery has improved enormously since then, but regardless of the efficacy of the drugs, patients still suffer from numerous problems. Treatment from alternative therapies is not common mainly because Parkinson’s disease is not widely understood.

There are aspects of Parkinson’s disease that may be helped using hypnosis. As I have considerable knowledge and experience of Parkinson’s disease (and I sit on a committee that has worked to promote research into a cure for PD) my knowledge is invaluable in helping with certain aspects of Parkinson’s Disease.

Caring for someone with PD

I am aware of the many issues surrounding being a carer and can offer help in different ways – in helping you get the best from your life, and also with helping you to understand the stresses and strains resulting from the issues that are part condition of Parkinson's.
